The Erasmus University Charter is a certificate which sets out the fundamental principles underlying all Erasmus activities to be respected by the university. When a HEI is awarded with an EUC it gives them the right to participate in all Erasmus activities and to apply to the National Agency for funding under decentralised activities (Student Mobility, Teaching and other Staff Mobility, Organisation of Mobility, ECTS, Intensive Programmes) and to the European Commission for centralised activities (Multilateral Projects, Networks and Accompanying Measures). For a HEI to apply for Erasmus grant for work placements it must obtain the Extended Erasmus University Charter.
Applications for an Erasmus University Charter can be handed in once yearly, usually at the end of November of each year.
